For this project, I was tasked to design a piece on a historical event in the world with a collage of photos. I decided on the American Civil War.

 

The American Civil War was an internal conflict fought in the United States from 1861 to 1865. To leave a strong impression, I used portraits of the leaders from both oposing ends, Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln, with Lincoln’s portrait significantly bigger than Davis’ as he won the war. Paintings of the soldiers were used at the background to show the war. To tie the whole collage together, I used both the Confederate flag and the U.S. flag to show the war between the two. I titled the whole piece The Freedom Of Slaves as it marked the end of slavery in the U.S.
