ACT 1: BADANG AND THE SINGAPORE STONE
As part of my final year project, I got the opportunity to be part of the team to create a motion graphics piece for the National Day Parade 2016. NDP 2016 is especially significant because we are celebrating the next 50 years, the start of a new chapter in our Singapore stories, and to be a part of this was an honour.
For this year’s parade, a group of 17 students from Motion Graphics & Broadcast Design were tasked to create motion graphics to accompany the performances for Act 1 and 2. Each individual was given a specific segment and parts to work on. Act 1: Badang and the Singapore Stone is based on the legend surrounding the Singapore Stone displayed in the national museum and a man named Badang fighting his enemies.
I was assigned to create, with 4 other students, the graphics for Act 1, which was a battle scene between Badang and his competitors, Bamboo Warriors, Shield Warriors, and Fire Silat. We had to do research on fighting moves to create the final product.
ROLE: 3D modelling, lighting, animation and compositing.
SOFTWARES USED: Maxon Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects
